Surviving Moonlight

 I could hear your wings

falling from the moon,

but I wasn’t ready

for you to fly.

On the longest day of years

I whispered, “You can let go”,

while my heart was drowning

in goodbye.

  1. I am so sorry for your devastating loss. Thank you for being brave and strong enough to write about it. Losing my mother was the worst pain of my life, but we all expect that experience. Losing a child, we couldn’t possibly. My heart goes out to you and your family, Susie.
